British Tech Pilot Program
The British Tech Pilot Program was introduced in May 2017 to BC employers to help find international tech talent to fill positions in in-demand occupations across the province. The program was initially launched as a pilot, called the BC PNP Tech Pilot, before being extended indefinitely and renamed BC PNP Tech to provide B.C. tech employers with the continued ability to recruit and retain international talent when local skilled workers are unavailable.
Job offers under the BC PNP Tech program must meet the following criteria:
- Must be for a single job in one of the 29 occupations listed above;
- Must be at least one year in duration (365 days); and
- Must have at least 120 calendar days remaining on the job offer at the time of application
Beyond accessing the skills and talent of B.C. workers, companies need to be able to attract skilled workers from around the world. Tech entrepreneurs and skilled workers from other countries can help grow B.C.’s technology sector, leading to more jobs for British Columbians.
Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) was launched in 2017 as an initiative to revive economic growth in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces by attracting skilled workers. New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island are among the Atlantic Provinces. Due to the shortage of labor in the region, the provinces grouped together to create a pathway to permanent residency for foreigners who want to permanently settle and live in Atlantic Canada.
The AIPP provides an opportunity for foreign workers in nearly all job sectors in Atlantic Canada to become permanent residents.
